Our shadow volunteer program is designed to incorporate all aspects of the free food program process for participation of community leaders. It provides an up close and personal insight into the many aspects associated with program delivery.
Participants have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a shared experience of what is entailed to be a community free food program volunteer.
The program offers frontline exposure to processes such as gathering produce from collection points, meeting stakeholders, loading, and unloading produce, transportation of produce, sorting care boxes, ensuring zero waste, door-to-door deliveries and finally ending the experience with meeting some of the community member recipients we care for.
The completion of the process offers a snapshot insight into what and how our program unfolds, the work involved and how it benefits our community.
To date, all participants approached the shadow program with a genuine willingness to get her hands dirty, rolled up their sleeves and got stuck into the program.
An extended open invitation to our State and Federal Government representatives has been issued to join the program when diaries align.
